Operation Christmas Child

We love Operation Christmas Child. We've only done it once before when Monster Boy was little. But this year we had the opportunity to do it again. I decided to do the box for a girl age 10 to 14. We went to the 99 cent store and got every thing that I'd wanted and more. Here is a list of every thing that we were able to fit in the shoe box...

hat, socks, shirt, scarf, suckers, 4 tooth brushes, toothpaste, gloves, 5 packs of gum, a pair of flip flops, jump rope, 4 pencils, 5 pens, googly eye pen (The Boy picked it special), paper, colored pencils, 2 chap sticks, deodorant, glow sticks, hair pins, and hair ties.

I wish we could have fit more in. We got a second shirt and a second pair of socks just in case we could fit them in. I was bummed that we weren't able to. We wrote a note and included our address so hopefully we'll get a letter back.

I had a lot of fun shopping with the kids and putting the box together with him. Monster Boy is especially excited about it.

Three Nights Now

Its been three nights now since the Moster Toddler started sleeping in her toddler bed. The first two nights she fell out of bed twice each night and the second time we'd just leave her there. Last night she only fell out once!! It woke her up so I put her back down and she stayed that way! It was awesome.

Big Girl Bed

Last night was the Monster Toddler's first night in her big girl bed or "biga bed" as she calls it. I expected a fight at first and was very surprised when I didn't get one.

First she had to bounce on it for a while. Then she had to get all her babies in just the right spots. We read a the Pajama Time book and prayed. Then it was time for hugs and pachus (kisses). Ken got lots of pictures of her and then we turned out the lights. She never got up even once. We where shocked.

We checked on them before we went to bed. To our surprise Monster Toddler was laying on the floor but her feet were still in bed. We got lots of pictures of that too (I'll try and post that later). I put her back in her big girl bed and she stayed asleep. I also put down blankets on the floor just in case she fell out again so she'd have a soft spot to land.

At some point around 4:30 or 5, The Boy got up to tell us he was cold and that Monster Toddler was on the floor. Ken got him another blanket and checked on the girl. She was completely on the floor this time several feet away from her bed. Since it was so close to the time they normally wake up he didn't move her. She got up at 6 am. At 6:30 she ran and jumped on The Boy. Its always funny when she does that.

I hope she doesn't fall out tonight. She's a wiggler though so I'm not really holding out hope. As cute as it is, she doesn't get as much sleep as she needs.

Tonight Monster Boy is at cub scouts. The Toddler and I are watching Peter Pan (which she is thoroughly enjoying) and eating s'mores. She's never seen the movie or had s'mores. Soon it will be bath time, she needs one, especially after chocolate, graham cracker, and marshmallows. Then off to bed for the second night in her biga bed.
