I took the Monsters out for donuts today. I had thought about taking them to the park afterward and in a perfect world I would have, but I didn't. The thought of being there with sticky donut hands and faces with all the sand at the park... the thought makes me shiver.
Monster Boy runs in ahead of us so he can decide what he wants. When the Monster Toddler sees the glass case full of donuty goodness she starts laughing and squealing with glee. She runs over and puts both hands on the glass and starts yelling, "THIS ONE! THIS ONE!"
She was pointing to a pink frosted donut. There was also an orange frosted donut and a chocolate frosted donut. I gave her a choice between the three and she excitedly yells, "CHOCOLATE!! CHOCOLATE!!" Then she starts pointing back to the pink one and again yells, "THIS ONE!". I again give her a choice which ends in her yelling chocolate once more.
We pay and I try and head out to the car but she's sitting in a chair waiting to eat her donut. I tell her we are going but she insists on eating it there. I thought about it but just really wanted to get home. I persuaded her to leave the table so we could eat donuts at home. She just had to hold the donuts on the walk out to the car. The Monster Boy had a problem with that. He thought she'd eat them and started fighting with her.
Almost the whole way home was the Monster Boy yelling at her to leave the donuts alone and her screaming back at him and trying to fend him off. I finally yelled at them to knock it off and if they didn't they wouldn't get any donuts. They stopped real quick after that.
As soon as we walked through the door they ran to the table and got out their donuts. The Boy ate his in about a second. I'm not sure he even tasted it.
Monster Toddler took a bite or two then licked all the chocolate frosting off. When it was gone she started screaming and crying, then threw the donut on the floor, devastated.
